14 Day's of Pyaar ... Valentine's Day Filmi Style (Day 14)

Happy Valentine's Day!!!
So today I finally finish my list of romantic Bollywood songs.  This, Ladies and Gentlemen, is the last song.  I must also add that this is my ultimate favorite romantic song, and of course Shahrukh had to be in it.

Valentine's Day {Day 14}: Do Pal - Veer-Zaara

*Shahrukh Khan
*Preity Zinta

So enjoy your Sunday, and hopefully you get to spend it with the people/pets you love!

My Name Is Khan ... And I'm Not A Terrorist!

I was glad I was able to watch this film on opening day.  There have been only a handful of films that I have countdown to like I did for this film, some of those would probably be all of the Harry Potter films.  I've already written as to how important this film is and why there's such big buzz and expectations.
You know how when you have all these expectations for a film and are just so excited because you don't know if it'll deliver what it promised.  And then when it does you are just left speechless, because you got what you wanted, and then some, you just kinda don't know what to say...
...Well, this is exactly how I felt once the film ended.  I was just soooo happy that after all this wait the film was just brilliant!!!  I don't want to keep praising it too much, but I would highly recommend watching it.  Shahrukh's portrayal of Rizvan Khan is outstanding!  His character is bigger than the film itself.
The chemistry between Kajol + Shahrukh comes out on screen as being so natural, you believe that this couple will be happy forever.  They truly are one of the industries' most enchanting couple.
***One thing I must point out that made me feel uncomfortable was the portrayal of African-Americans in the film.  I went with a couple of friends to see this film and we were discussing this in the car.  There is one moment where Rizvan Khan {Shahrukh Khan} ends up in Wilhelmina, Georgia.  We are introduced to two characters Mama Jenny {Jennifer Echols} and her nephew.  My friend had comment that they looked like 'slaves' their whole town looked like a slavery plantation; and I have to agree with her.  In the way they were dressed and how they talked it was as if we they were still living in the late 1700's.  I don't think it was done intentionally, but personally I was taken aback as I watched these characters.  This was the only big flaw I saw in the film.
I would still highly recommend this film, because Shahrukh is just phenomenal and deserves all the praise he's getting for this film.  Congrats to Karan Johar + Kajol + SRK for another soon to be classic film in the Hindi film industry.

14 Day's of Pyaar ... Valentine's Day Filmi Style (Day 13)

Not my favorite film, but I really liked the music.  I wasn't impressed with Priyanka, I prefer her being the evil seductress ... oh well.  I'm not big on Bollywood Superheroes, because Spiderman is the only superhero that can save me!

Day 13: Pyaar Ki Ek Kahani - Krrish

*Hrithik Roshan
*Priyanka Chopra

I like that little Twilight-esque scene @ 1:45
NOTE: I do not in any way endorse Twilight, I just wanted to point out the similarities.

14 Day's of Pyaar ... Valentine's Day Filmi Style (Day 12)

This my least favorite of all the 4 Karan Johar directed films, the film is just way too family oriented.  I know most Hindi films deal with family matters but this one was just too much for me.  Also I hated Hrithik Roshan's character, he's cries way too much...this in now way refers to the fact that he is a man, and that men shouldn't cry.  I can only handle so much crying from one character, it was just too much for my liking.

Day 12: Suraj Hua Maddham - Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham {K3G}

*Shahrukh Khan
*Kajol
*Amitabh Bachchan
*Jaya Bachchan

The only great thing about this film is the Rahul + Anjali jodi, it was pure magic!!!

14 Day's of Pyaar ... Valentine's Day Filmi Style (Day 11)

I remember hearing so much about this film, before I bought it.  I had not seen any Shahrukh film at that time...I didn't know any of the actors, the saleslady at the video store recommended it to me.  This was the first SRK film I bought and watched.

Day 11: Main Agar Kahoon - Om Shanti Om

*Shahrukh Khan
*Deepika Padukone
*Shreyas Talpade

Wiki Fact: More than forty two well-known Bollywood stars appear in the course of the film, including thirty of them (not including the stars of the film) in one song alone {Deewangi Deewangi}.

14 Day's of Pyaar ... Valentine's Day Filmi Style (Day 10)

No list of love songs would ever be complete without including a song from this film.  Holds the record for being the longest running film in the history of Indian cinema.  It was also listed in the 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die list.

Day 10: Ho Gaya Hai - Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

*Shahrukh Khan
*Kajol
*Amrish Puri
*Farida Jaal

14 Day's of Pyaar ... Valentine's Day Filmi Style (Day 9)

Although this wasn't the comeback we were expecting from Madhuri Dixit it did give us this memorable song.  Kunal Kapoor is just sexy!!! I have also started watching more Konkona Sen Sharma films, and boy! this girl can act.  She needs to make more films!!!

Day 9: Ishq Hua - Aaja Nachle

*Ranvir Shorey
*Akshaye Khanna

KoKo shines in this song, my favorite part is @ 1:48

I couldn't leave this song out! So Aaja Nachle!

14 Day's of Pyaar ... Valentine's Day Filmi Style (Day 8)

I will go on record saying that this is not a good movie, but I did have fun watching it.  I also really liked the music, there is one song that's sort of a guilty pleasure for me...it's so bad it's good kind of song called Bhangra Paa Le.  Maybe I should make a post on my guiltiest pleasures relating to Bollywood songs...OK! no one steal my idea...jk

Day 8: Yaar Badal Naa Jana - Taalash: The Hunt Begins

*Kareena Kapoor
*Akshay Kumar

Bebo + Akki jodi rock my world!!!

14 Day's of Pyaar ... Valentine's Day Filmi Style (Day 7)

This is one of my favorite films ever, and it is hard just picking just one song...I went with Maar Daala.  There's just something about Madhuri Dixit in this song that always seems to captivate me.  For one thing she's stunning, her dancing is superb, overall she's  just perfection.

Day 7: Maar Daala - Devdas

*Madhuri Dixit
*Shahrukh Khan

Madhuri at her best...Enjoy!

SRK on Jonathan Ross ... 2/5/10

Ok! So when I heard online that Shahrukh was gonna be on this show, I was ecstatic to say the least.  For one reason being that Shahrukh would be only the second Bollywood actor to be on the show after Shilpa Shetty and her Celebrity Big Brother fame.  I loved this interview...he's was too funny!!!
So here is the SRK bits, hopefully YouTube doesn't take them down anytime soon...
Part 1

Part 2

14 Day's of Pyaar ... Valentine's Day Filmi Style (Day 6)

This was the first film Shahrukh film I watched on the big screen, and I probably ended up watching this film about 3 times after that.  So you could easily assume that I Loved this film.
Day 6:  Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai - Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

*Shahrukh Khan
*Anushka Sharma

This is the (Sad) version of the song, sung beautifully by Shreya Goshal...

Dulha Mil Gaya...Hmmm...There's so much to hate...

Ok! So...I saw this film the day after I came back from my wonderful vacation in Mexico.  So of course I was desperate for any Bollywood fix!  I must say that I had absolutely NO EXPECTATIONS for this film, the only reason I was watching it was for Shahrukh and a little for Sushmita Sen.  I've always liked it better when these older  men are paired with women that are closer to their age, it looks much better on screen and the chemistry is much more believable.  Not like those men *cough* SRK *cough* who are paired with 20 year old girls!
So now onto the film ... Ok! ... the only thing that saved Dulha Mil Gaya from being a total catastrophe was the Main Hoon Na jodi, I really wish I could see more SRK + Sushmita pairings, they really compliment each other as an onscreen pair.
Sushmita's Diva-licious character Shimmer, had some of the best lines in the film ... "Upgraded Passenger"---Love it!!!
I must also give credit to King of Romance {SRK} as well, he did well with what he was given.  He and Sushmita made the film tolerable.  And this is me being nice with my review...I hated everything else the other couple, Fardeen Khan + Ishita Sharma was just *ugh* just a waste of film.
I hate it when films enforce the same stereotypes and try to justify it in such a way that it demeans...me, basically and makes me just want to scream at the screen!!!  Of course I am in no way implying that these stereotypes occur in only Hindi films.  But this is one of the very few films that I personally have seen that have made me feel the need to say something publicly about it.
It happens during the climax, kinda like at the end, the problem that I have with this whole scene is that Samarpreet, played by Ishita Sharma, has absolutely NO RIGHT to criticize Shimmer's relationship {or lack there of} with Pawan {aka PRG}, played by Shahruk, and her way of thinking.  Samarpreet is the absolute last person that should ever have an opinion on relationships.
She, herself is trying to make Tej {aka Donsai, he is referred by this name though out most of the film}, played by Fardeen Khan, fall in love with her, even though he only married her so he would be allowed to collect his father's inheritance, as part a deal that Donsai's dad had with Samarpreet's relatives .  Her story is that after getting married to Tej {Donsai}, he leaves her to go on business--promising that he would come back for her--she hears no news of him for 3 months and decides to find him, not knowing what would be waiting for her when she met him once again.
Of course, she finds him having the time of his life unlike her, who is shown as being the depressed wife crying and waiting for her man to come back home. The marking point in this, is that she see's him make out with another girl, so you can clearly tell that he has no intentions of being faithful or even acknowledging their marriage.
Eventually Samarpreet meets Shimmer to whom she tells her story to and lucky enough for her, Shimmer and Donsai have been very good friends for years.  Shimmer along with her entourage decide to glam up Samarpreet and turn her into the glammed up Samara; to the point were she is unrecognizable to her husband and therefore allowing him to fall in love with her.
So...back to the real problem.  The new Samara, has the audacity to criticize someone's relationship when she herself is trying to win over her estranged husband by sexing herself up.  In the end of course Donsai falls in love with the glammed up wife, Samara.
But after he is reminded that he in fact does have a wife waiting for him he feels the need to come clean and confess that he loves Samara but he's already married to Samarpreet and is going back to her and fulfill his duties as her husband.
Eventually Donsai realizes that Samara is in fact Samarpreet his wife and they both live happily ever after knowing that Donsai finally loves wife.  Although it technically wasn't his wife, because he was unaware of the truth until after he fell in love, but all is well because that other woman is in fact his wife, so it's OK!
***Donsai would have never gone back to his wife.  I feel 100% confident stating this and I hate the fact that this is the happy ending we, as the audience, are supposed to be rooting for.  I mean come on...!
Now onto the music...I really enjoyed the soundtrack, but only three songs were really fantastic one was Dulha Mil Gaya, Aaja Mere Ranjhna, and Magar Meri Jaan.

14 Day's of Pyaar ... Valentine's Day Filmi Style (Day 5)

Tashan...The Ishtyle...The Good Luck...The Pharmoola, God! I love this movie.  I'm sure that after reading some of my posts you have realized that the Kareena + Akshay jodi is one of my all time favorite on screen couples.
Day 5: Falak Tak - Tashan

*Kareena Kapoor {Bebo}
*Akshay Kumar
*Saif Ali Khan

I would like to make a Public Service Announcement: If anyone wants to learn how to swoon a woman take advice from Bachchan Pande {Akshay Kumar} on how to propose to her ... "I may not be good looking, I may not be too quick.  I know I laugh {a little funnily} ... in fact I am a bit of a d!ck.  And nothing will ever change it, if you'll be mine forever more.  Like Beckham 'I will bend it ever and ever forever!'"

14 Day's of Pyaar ... Valentine's Day Filmi Style (Day 4)

The 'Lucky Boy' of Bollywood is on my list not once but twice, this was the first film for both Ranbir and Sonam.  This film was soo boring, although I must say that the settings/decorations were fantastic, it felt as though you were in a different world.  I LOVED my Rani, as the prostitute with a heart of gold {Indie Movie Cliche}.
Day 4: Jaan-E-Jaan - Saawariya

*Ranbir Kapoor
*Sonam Kapoor

I truly truly love this song...I just wish they had played the whole song in the film and not just a small portion of it.

14 Day's of Pyaar ... Valentine's Day Filmi Style (Day 3)

I'm super sorry I'm posting this video so late...but it's one of those day's that there's just so much to do...anyways here is the 3rd installment of my Valentine's Day series.  Enjoy!
Day 3: Humko Humise Chura Lo - Mohabbatein

Of course this one was going to be included in my posts.  I have yet to see this film ...*Gasp!*...  I know I know, but there's a really good reason for this.  Unfortunately I spoiled the movie for myself...and after I knew about the 'big' twist at the end, I kinda didn't want to see it...but I will.
P.S. Try to ignore the other 3 couples...and focus mainly on the SRK + Aish jodi.

14 Day's of Pyaar ... Valentine's Day Filmi Style (Day 2)

Day 2: Dil Ne Ye Kaha Hain Dil Se --- Dhadkan

* Akshay Kumar
*Shilpa Shetty
*Sunil Shetty

I'm a sucker for love triangle stories.
